While the sport itself should be mentioned, the most important part of the essay is the opinion and viewpoint of the writer, and how his or her viewpoint differs from the prevailing opinion or viewpoints . Remember, if your opponent does not believe in your opinion, then you do not know much about the topic, and may not be able to convince that person with the facts. Just because you happen to think something is the case does not mean it is correct, just because someone else does not believe it is not the case. You need to find the proper context to bring your argument to life, and should not try to force your viewpoint into the essay. After all, the essay is about the opinions and beliefs of those involved in the topic. Make sure that you use the appropriate phrasing to describe your opinion in a manner that will bring the issue to life. Finally, after you have gathered the facts, you need to write your essay. You can use the outline to help guide you in this process. Just remember to follow your outline, and to use the correct tone and manner to describe your position, and your facts, sta tistics, and opinions will be very easy to relate to.Writing an argumentative essay about sports topics can be made simple and enjoyable. Percy Jackson And The Olympians The Lightning Thief

Ernest Hemingway once said, â€Å"There is no friend as loyal as a book† (â€Å"Quotes†). Since the end of the third grade year, I have had a roaring passion for storytelling in all forms; radio, theater, and books. Journeying with the characters, I grew to thrive on their riveting adventures. I solved mysteries with Nancy Drew, attended Hogwarts with Harry Potter, and faced dragons with Bilbo Baggins. Of all of these adventures, I hold those of Percy Jackson the closest to my heart because of the deep rooted friendships I found through it. Published in 2005, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightning Thief was written by Rick Riordan and starts off the adventures of a twelve year old boy named, Percy Jackson. That winter, we attended Spanish classes to gether. We swapped theories and ideas over the books. As our love for the books grew, our friendship grew. Soon, Jacob and I were best friends. In the halls, I’d shout out his nickname, Sushie, based off of Percy’s nickname in the series, and in class he’d pass me spoilers. In a quick year, we went from bitter rivals to best friends. Conflict is the key to all narratives, and like how Percy faced monsters, our friendship faced its own conflict. In the middle of our seventh grade year, Jacob moved to New Zealand, where his mother is from. This forced a shift in the dynamic of our relationship. Suddenly, we didn’t see each other everyday in school. However, our love for Percy Jackson kept us together- with the help of social media. Our exchanging of ideas became daily Facebook messages that expanded from the books we were reading to science, art, and culture. As the stories thrived, so did our friendship. Then, in the late autumn of 2014, the last Percy Jackson book, Heroes of Olympus: Blood of Olympus, came out. My heart clenched. Would reading the last book mean the end of our friendship? More commonly, swing refers to what we call big band Jazz of the sasss- music performed by groups which generally featured several of each instrument and playing a steady but still wild eat that was great for dancing. FIFO Goodman small bands. The great swing band included those of Louis Russell, Earl Hines, Jimmy Langford, Andy Kirk, Harlan Leonard, Claude Hopkins, Chick Webb, Don Redden, Benny Carter, Bunny Bengal, Charlie Barnett, Harry James, Woody Herman, Lionel Hampton, and the great Count Basis.Count Basis started out his young career as a Jazz musician playing to silent movies. Then in 1928 he Joined Walter Pages Blue Devils, starting a 20 year long association with the Bassist. When the Blue Devils broke up Basis Joined Bernie Motets band, and then in 1935 darted his own band, the Reno Club and quickly went to the top. In 1938, the band recorded the classic track Jumping At the Woodside with three of the most accomplished musicians of the time, featuring solos by, Earl Warren and Herschel Evans as well as Young and Clayton. One of the people who made the biggest impact on the sasss music was the trumpet player, Louis Armstrong. He was the true soloist of Jazz. Armstrong was a great improviser, technically, emotionally, and intellectually (The Simon and Schuster Listener Guide to Jazz, 28). He changed the format of Jazz by bringing the soloist to the forefront, and his recording roofs, the Hot Five and the Hot Seven, showed people that Jazz improvisation could go for beyond simply ornamenting the melody; he created new melodies based on chords of the initia l tune (Microsoft, Incarnate). Hanged the words and melodies of songs, but also by improvising without words, by using instruments in place of words (The Simon and Schuster Listener guide to Jazz, 27). The most innovative pianist of the sasss , comparable to Armstrong, was Earl Fatwa Hines, a Chicago born musical wizard considered to have a wild, unpredictable imagination (Microsoft Music). His style influenced pianist of the next generation. One of the most popular ways of playing the piano in the sasss was called the boogie-woozier, a form of blues and swing mixed together. It consists of a short, sharply accented bass pattern played over and over by the left hand while the right hand plays freely, using a variety of rhythms (Microsoft Incarnate). The great efforts of Armstrong, Longtime, Henderson, and others made Jazz a dominant influence on American music during the sasss and sasss. Popular musicians such as the band leader Paul Whitman seed some of the most common beats and rhythm of Jazz, although with less freedom and skill than were displayed in the music of the great Jazz players.Attempting to combine Jazz with light classical music, Whitman orchestra also played Jazzy pieces by American composers I believe that these artists I have talked about were some of the most important people during the Depression. When people were sad and nothing was going right they always had their radio to turn on. Without the good times Jazz brought to them, who knows how the Depression would have turned out without the music of the sasss.

Killer Angels Essays (2402 words) - Gettysburg Campaign,

Killer Angels The Killer Angels The Battle of Gettysburg brought the dueling North and South together to the small town of Gettysburg and on the threshold of splitting the Union. Gettysburg was as close as the United States got to Armageddon and The Killer Angels gives the full day-to-day account of the battle that shaped America's future. Michael Shaara tells the story of the Battle of Gettysburg through the eyes of the generals and men involved in the action of the battle. The historical account of the Battle of Gettysburg gives the reader a chance to experience the battle personally and not the history book manner taught in schools. A historical novel gives the facts straightforward and provides no commentary by the people involved in history. The historical account of the Battle of Gettysburg, as seen in Killer Angels, provides the facts of the battle as seen through the eyes of Generals Robert E. Lee, Joshua Chamberlain, James Longstreet, and John Buford. The feelings and inner-thoughts of each General and the conditions of the battle are seen, heard, and felt by the reader in the historical account. Shaara takes historical license with letters, the words of the men, and documents written during the three hellish days of the battle. Shaara avoids historical opinion and provides his own opinion towards the Civil War and the people. The historical account of the Civil War, the Battle of Gettysburg specifically, in Killer Angels conveys the attitude to toward war, attitude towards the Civil War, and cause for fighting the war of General Robert E. Lee, Joshua Chamberlain, James Longstreet, and John Buford. General Robert E. Lee gained stoic and legendary status as the heart and soul of the South in the Civil War, but many did not know his reasons and feelings for fighting the war. War and the slaughter of others did not interest Lee and he felt compassion for the Union. Lee had contradictory feelings towards war and says, ?He was not only to serve in it but he was to lead it, to make the plans, and issue the orders to kill and burn and ruin?he could not do that? (Shaara 263). The Civil War is not in the taste of General Lee, but feels it is his duty, and he cannot just stand by and watch the war pass him by. Michael Shaara says of Lee's reason for fighting the Civil War ?, He found that he had no choice?Lee could not raise his hand against his own. And so what then? To stand by and do nothing? It had nothing to do with causes; it was no longer a matter of vows? (Shaara 263). Shaara, through his commentary on General Lee, explains that Lee did not want to fight the war but had to. Lee felt it was his duty to fight for his fellow countrymen, but not for a cause, land, or slavery. ?So it was no cause and no country he fought for, no ideal and no justice. He fought for his people, for the children, and the kin, and not even the land, because the land was worth the war, but the people were,? General Lee says (Shaara 263). General Lee fights for himself and has no choice but to fight, knowing in the end that he might be wrong with his cause and pay the price someday. General Lee is not a proponent of war, but he will serve his country with honor and duty if necessary. A man of ideals and honor represent the character of Union Colonel Joshua Chamberlain. Being a man of education, Chamberlain knows the demeaning and repulsive nature of slavery and has come to fight to end it. Chamberlain hates the whole idea of the Civil War and the death and destruction that goes along with it. ?I used my brother to plug a hole. Did it automatically as if he were expendable,? says Chamberlain (Shaara 304). He hates the idea that men, including his brother, are dying out in the fight for slavery. The only reason he believes in the Civil War is that if he the North did not fight freedom would be tarnished and a great travesty would occur. Chamberlain is not a man of war and blood and doesn't relish war and its qualities. The idea of war in general to Chamberlain was ludicrous, as he once wrote ?Man: The Killer Angel?. Chamberlain believes all other wars have been unnecessary expect for the Civil War because it
